A brand-new Terminator game has been officially revealed, and it’s taking the franchise in a nostalgic direction. Terminator 2D: No Fate, a side-scrolling action game inspired by ‘80s and ‘90s arcade classics, is set to launch on September 5, 2025 for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. Developed by Bitmap Bureau and published by Reef Entertainment, the game aims to capture the spirit of Terminator 2: Judgment Day while introducing fresh, untold stories in the franchise’s universe.

A Love Letter to Classic Arcade Games

Unlike recent Terminator adaptations, No Fate embraces pixel-based 2D gameplay, evoking the aesthetics and mechanics of retro arcade shooters. Players will take on the roles of Sarah Connor, John Connor, and the T-800, facing off against T-1000 and other foes from the series. Design Director Mike Tucker described the project as “the T2 side-scroller we should have had in our youth,” emphasizing its fast-paced action and nostalgic appeal.

A Fresh Take on T2’s Storyline

The game doesn’t just follow the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day—it expands on the original narrative with additional missions and new perspectives. Fans can expect to relive classic moments from the 1991 film while experiencing fresh twists. The soundtrack will also pay homage to the iconic music of T2, further immersing players in the retro sci-fi action.

More Terminator Games on the Horizon

Fans of the franchise have even more to look forward to in 2025. In addition to No Fate, Terminator: Survivors, an open-world survival game by Nacon, is also in development. Originally announced in 2022, Survivors has faced delays, and its final release date remains uncertain.

With No Fate offering a throwback to classic arcade action and Survivors bringing a modern open-world experience, 2025 is shaping up to be an exciting year for Terminator fans.
