Hazelight Studios‘ latest co-op adventure, Split Fiction, has become the developer’s fastest-selling game, surpassing one million copies sold in just 48 hours.
Announced via BlueSky, the studio expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support, saying, “The love you all show for our game is overwhelming! Everyone here at Hazelight are beyond happy – and we can’t stop enjoying your amazing reactions!”
More Players Than Sales?
With Split Fiction’s built-in Friend’s Pass, each copy allows a second player to join the adventure for free. This means far more than a million players are likely exploring the game’s co-op-driven world, making the milestone even more impressive.
Outpacing It Takes Two
This sales record doubles down on the success of Hazelight’s previous hit, It Takes Two, which took a full month to reach one million copies. Studio head Josef Fares previously emphasized the demand for co-op experiences, and Split Fiction’s rapid success further cements that sentiment.
Critical Acclaim & Player Praise
The game has received stellar reviews, including a 9/10 rating, with critics calling it “a rollercoaster of constantly refreshed gameplay ideas and styles – and one that’s very hard to walk away from.” With such a monumental launch, Hazelight seems to have struck gold once again in the world of cooperative gaming.
