A Streamlined Early Access Journey
Unlike its predecessor, Hades, which spent nearly two years in Early Access, Hades 2 seems to be on a faster trajectory. By May 2025, it will have been in Early Access for one year, a shorter period partly due to lessons learned during the development of the original Hades. With the groundwork already laid, Hades 2 benefits from an established foundation and an optimized Early Access approach. Supergiant Games has promised new boons, foes, music, storylines, and regions as they approach the final release.
Major Updates: More Regions, Boons, and Storylines
The “Olympic Update” brought a wealth of content, including a new weapon, region, boss, enemies, gods, and enhancements to both storylines and gameplay. The next major update, slated for early 2025, will build upon this by introducing another Surface region, expanding both the story and gameplay structure. This upcoming region will be key to completing the Surface Route, marking a significant milestone in the game’s development.
In addition to regional expansions, the update will introduce new boons, enhance weaponry, and add fresh music tracks, ensuring the game continues to feel vibrant and engaging for Early Access players. Storylines tied to the Underworld and the Crossroads are also expected to grow, adding depth and replayability.
A Full Release in Late 2025?
Supergiant has committed to at least two more major updates in 2025, with the first arriving early in the year. While this doesn’t confirm an exact launch date for version 1.0, it suggests a possible release window in the latter half of 2025. Whether in May, July, or later in the year, Hades 2 is shaping up to be a more ambitious sequel while maintaining the polish and charm of its predecessor.
