How to Play Forza Horizon 5 Crossplay With Friends Across PS5, Xbox, and PC

Since Forza Horizon 5 launched back in 2021, crossplay has been fully enabled — and it’s still going strong with the game’s arrival on PS5. Whether you’re racing on Xbox Series X, PC (Windows or Steam), or now PS5, everyone can drive, drift, and explore Mexico together without restrictions. No platform advantages here — it’s a level playing field across the board.

However, adding friends and setting up a convoy isn’t exactly intuitive, especially if your squad is scattered across different systems. Here’s a full guide to getting your friends into your session with as little hassle as possible.

How Crossplay Works in Forza Horizon 5

Crossplay is on by default as soon as you unlock online multiplayer, which happens early on — right after you get your first house and complete your first Expedition. From then on, you’ll need an internet connection to jump into online play. Xbox Series X players will also need an Xbox Game Pass Core subscription, while PS5 players must have PlayStation Plus active.

Adding Friends Across Platforms

To race together, you first need to add friends through the Xbox network, even if you’re playing on PlayStation:

1. Log in to Xbox.com using the Microsoft account linked to your game.
2. Click your profile icon (top right) and go to your Xbox Profile.
3. Use the search bar to find your friend’s Xbox Gamertag — make sure you’re searching for “People,” not “Games.”
4. Send a friend request to their Xbox profile. They’ll need to accept it on their end too.

Alternatively, if you meet someone in-game you want to race with:

• Open the main menu, head to the Online tab, and go to the Social (PS5) or Friends/Players (Xbox/PC) menu.
• Select the player, then hit Add MSA Friend.
• If they’re on the same platform, you can also pull up their platform profile and add them directly.

Creating a Convoy to Play Together

Once your friends are added:

1. Open the main menu > go to Online > select Convoy.
2. Create a new Convoy, set the privacy to allow friends to join.
3. Invite friends from your in-game or Xbox/PlayStation friends list.

They’ll get a pop-up invite in-game to join your session. Easy cruising ahead!

Turning Crossplay Off (If You Want)

• PS5 players can toggle crossplay in the game’s settings under Extras.

Xbox and Windows PC players can only disable crossplay by adjusting Xbox account privacy settings — but beware, this affects all games, not just FH5.
